The report from the 2023 Annual Agricultural Survey presents main findings from the PP and PH collected data. |
Abstract |
The 2023 Annual Agricultural Survey reveals that there are about 1,256,456 agricultural households (AgHH) in Sierra Leone with a total agricultural population of 6,666,029. The majority of these agricultural households (about 73 percent) are headed by males. In addition, only 3.6% of household members attended formal training in agriculture and 60% percent of the agricultural population can not read and write in any language. Most of agricultural households are small-scale, practicing mainly crop cultivation or livestock rearing. Majors crops harvested in the country are rice, cassava, and cocoa, while the main livestock type raised by holdings is chicken. |
